Terrorist
'The characters in this series are caring but non-idealistic individuals without the slightest ambition to change the world. They represent genuine men and women with familial, religious and traditional preoccupations who are busy living their own lives'. - Khosrow Hassanzadeh
In this thought-provoking gallery of portraits, Hassanzadeh visually embodies a single linguistic term, 'terrorist' and explores how it translates into a set of cultural and political references. By applying this ethnically loaded concept to personalized images of family members and himself, he toys with the boundaries of language which are dictated by power structures and especially the media. Through a marriage of word and image, Hassanzadeh uses subtle irony and wit to deconstruct the way in which society at large stereotypes and categorizes.
